moringa skin benefits

My Turmeric And Moringa Face Mask

Iโ€™ve -or rather my mum has- had moringa sitting in her cabinet for ages (actually a few months). She uses it once in a while for teas and her various concoctions which I vehemently refuse to take part in despite her insistence.

Every time I open the cabinet to take my beloved turmeric, I see it sitting there, eyeballing me! And then I thought, moringa has a whole lot of health benefits, what if I can use it on my skin too! Hence! I dived into research.

ย  Confirming my previous knowledge of its health benefits, some of which include:

  • Lowers Blood Sugar Levels thereby preventing diabetes
  • Lowers Cholesterol thereby reducing risk of heart disease
  • Maintains Strong and Healthy bones
  • Rich nutrient content
  • Fights Inflammation (even better than turmeric does)
  • Protects the liver

In addition to this knowledge, I discovered its various benefits to the skin as well which got me very excited:

  • Anti-Bacterial
  • Firms up the skin
  • Reduces blemishes
  • Improves complexion
  • Fights acne
  • Removes toxin which usually cause breakouts
  • Minimizes appearance of pores

I also learned that scientist have yet to find any side effects of using moringa on the skin. Wonderful, isnโ€™t it? After my research and with such delightful results, I had to sit at my desk for a good minute and think. Iโ€™d been letting a skin gem sit around idly in my own home without use!

Shortly after, I rushed to mix up my very own DIY turmeric and moringa face mask. It took me while to get the consistency right and also substituting this for that but finally I created the perfect one and here it is.

You will need:

  • Turmeric (about a teaspoon for one use)
  • Moringa (Ditto)
  • Honey (1 tablespoon/ 2 teaspoons)
  • Apple Cider Vinegar (1 tablespoon/ 2 teaspoons)

You could tinker with this recipe a bit to suite your needs and increase/decrease quantity to get the perfect pasty consistency. I initially added coconut oil in an earlier trial but later switched it out as I felt the honey provided enough moisture. Ensure you make use of organic Turmeric and Moringa, as any artificial form nullifies the entire aim. But also, be careful with turmeric as it stains a lot, Iโ€™d advise you also give your washbasin a quick wash after use to avoid permanent staining.

Another thing, before you use this mask please ensure youโ€™re not allergic to any of the ingredients.

I use this mask twice a week, and have been using it for close to a month now. And after each use I fall in love with the glow It gives me over and over again. Don’t forget to moisturize after!
